The six photographers selected subjects who they felt represented beauty, according to WWD. Steven Klein selected Nicole Kidman while Patrick Demarchelier went with Keira Knightley and Mert & Marcus shot Naomi Campbell while Craig McDean chose Amber Valletta and Peter Lindbergh tapped Lea Seydoux, and finally Mikael Jansson selected Daria Werbowy. The Russian model is all legs posing for Miles Aldridge in bootie styles as well as classic pump heels. "I used a white room as a blank canvas to contrast the pure beauty of Irina Shayk against blocks of pure abstract color. The resulting compositions — with their graphic forms centered around the statuesque beauty of Irina — have an affinity with the heritage of the cinema of Michelangelo Antonionni and Italian abstract paintings from the 1960s,"Aldridge says about the advertisements’ inspiration. The campaign images feature Gaultier himself alongside top British model Karen Elson. "The collection represents a small wardrobe by Gaultier, with my typical codes but interpreted in a new way. There is the classic sailor stripe as well as the more graphic one, in some pieces combined with a tattoo print which is a favorite of mine", the designer says about the team-up.
