After weeks of anticipation, the 2014 Met Gala has finally landed in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Stars and models alike walked the red carpet in stunning evening wear designs. This year's Met Gala's exhibit is "Charles James: Beyond Fashion". It takes a look at the twentieth century couturier Charles James known for his sculptural and revolutionary ball gowns. Many of the attendees adhered to the theme of evening wear dress in top labels including Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Balmain and more. Armored Lingerie–Dutch lingerer Marlies Dekkers finds inspiration in an unusual source for her fall-winter 2014 couture collection—Joan of Arc. The new collection is inspired by "a young and strong woman following her heart and achieving remarkable goals in her life" reads the official release. This range consists of two styles: The Heroic Journey which is decorated with a metal chain-web cover and The Victory—a gold and leather design. Each style comes in a bra and panty set and corset/bodysuit design. Of course, this is not the first time Dekkers has taken on historical motifs for inspiration–last year The Mauritshuis Museum–featuring great Dutch paintings served as an influence. View More

Swedish-based department store NK is launching a new makeup service called "Haute Cosmetics", which as the name suggests offers a high level of service in the beauty department with certificated makeup artists and unique consultations which could take as long as ten hours for the finished product. “As far as we know, there [are] not any similar services in any department store in the world,” says Karin Svensson, Head of advertising at NK. The campaign images are similarly one of a kind featuring a model with colorful makeup and a face full of decorations. Johan Wilde of Garbergs worked on art direction for the shoot while Benjamin Vnuk captured the images.
