Approaching men’s style at the event, Wintour did not hold back. She revealed that the white tie dress code inspired by the exhibition of Charles James had men freaked out. Wintour reveals, “The most amusing email I had was from Tom Ford who dressed many of the most handsome men there on Monday night. He said he had not only had hundreds of men coming in and asking him to explain white tie meant, they were very confused by decorations. There were a couple who said, ‘Did this mean Christmas tree decoration or ornaments and could Tom Ford please pick them out.” Reflecting on men’s looks for the evening, Wintour was specific in her thoughts and thought only one man got it right.
