The X-Factor–After covering its July 2012 issue, British model David Gandy is the main attraction once more, gracing the cover of August Man’s May issue. Photographer Thoms Lavelle caught up with David this past February, when he was in Paris for Dolce & Gabbana’s fall/winter 2014 women’s show. Dressed in a dapper suit from the Italian fashion label, who helped catapult him to fame, David poses for strong portraits. Talking to the magazine about his career and the changing landscape of modeling, David reflects on his beginnings, recalling, “The industry was initially obsessed with Dior’s skinny guy or the androgynous look which didn't appeal to me at all. I wanted to create an iconic campaign. So I observed how fashion worked and how the successful people got to where they were. The basis of my plan was to follow what the female supermodels did. They had a business structure, they had planning.” At the initial stages of his career, David felt pressures to lose weight and fit the mold, but he refused. David explains, “The fashion industry is very much like sheep, so when one fashion house goes with skinny guys, the whole of the fashion world follow suit. A lot of people suggested that I needed to get smaller, but I was not going to change. I knew the trend of skinny and androgynous models would change at some point, but it took the genius of Dolce & Gabbana and Mario Testino to see that. We pretty much changed the face of male modeling in many ways. After which, the likes of Calvin Klein and Armani and everyone else tried to follow what we had created.” Read more at AugustMan.com. Met Gala Talent–The New York Post reports that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has tapped R&B singer Frank Ocean to perform at this year’s Met Gala. Currently working on his sophomore album to follow up the critically acclaimed Channel Orange, which was released in July 2012, word out on the street is that Ocean could possibly debut new music at the Met Gala.

Zac Efron Covers The Hollywood Reporter–Promoting his latest movie Neighbors, actor Zac Efron covers the May 9th issue of The Hollywood Reporter. Posing for casual images, the young actor opens up to the magazine about his struggles with drugs and alcohol. Efron shares, “No matter who you are, you face challenges growing up. You go with your things, you learn, you have to. It’s impossible to lead an honest and fulfilling life as a man and not make mistakes and ‘fess up to them when you need to. But it’s especially humiliating when they happen to be so public and so scrutinized. When you have success young, and you accept the good things, you have to accept all of it. You have to accept the moments of glory but also a great responsibility. And that responsibility, to some degree, involves being a role model. At the same time, I’m a human being, and I’ve made a lot of mistakes. I’ve learned from each one.” Talking about his recent altercation on skid row, Efron explains, “I was drinking a lot, way too much. It’s never one specific thing. I mean, you’re in your 20s, single, going through life in Hollywood, you know? Everything is thrown at you. I wouldn’t take anything back; I needed to learn everything I did. But it was an interesting journey, to say the least. I had a friend come pick me up late at night—we were looking for a place downtown to get a bite and catch up. We were having trouble finding somewhere…and the car ran out of gas off the 110. It was ridiculous. We had to pull over, and I called Uber [car service]. A homeless guy, or vagrant, tapped on the driver’s-side window. Before I knew it, [my friend] was out of the car, and they started fighting. I saw that [the homeless man] was carrying some sort of a knife, or shank, and I got out of the car to disarm him. At some point, he dropped the knife, and I got hit pretty hard in the face—and almost instantly the police were there to break up the fight.” Read more at HollywoodReporter.com. View More

Murphy for So It Goes–British magazine So It Goes connects with Irish actor Cillian Murphy for its latest cover story. The Transcendence actor is photographed by Vassilis Karidis for a stunning spread styled by Rose Forde with creative direction by James Wright. For the photos, Murphy poses for moody images in clothes from labels that include Berluti, Paul Smith, YMC and Casely-Hayford.
